So, I haven’t posted in awhile because I took on a side-project over at http://usmilitarygamers.com. I really like the end result, and I hope the team over there do too. I hope to circle back around and be a little more productive now that I have completed the coding of the usmilitarygamers.com website.

I built the site simply using phpbb, some extra standalone code to draw stats on several games, and some gaming pictures for use on the headers. Some of the great artist over at the usmg, provided an exceptional mascot (shown right on the homepage), titles, and several other pieces of artwork. (Thanks Timmy, DBG, and Maximus!, you guys are awesome!)

If you haven’t had a chance to take a look, head on over, and take a peak.

I’d love to know what you think, if you have any suggestions, drop a comment here!

So like every normal Joe the Plummer, I have got a couple spring projects that I am working on around the house.

Demolition of back yard playhouse, and creation of 2 zones. (One for Beau, and one for us)

Here is a picture of the left side back of the house. As you can see, its pretty barren, and doesn’t get a lot of sunlight.

This is the back porch, as you can see, the porch was pretty rough back in 2004, its even more so in 2009. I’ve recently cultivated another tree from the top (not the one in the picture, that came out in 2005ish), and removed the ruined gutter in the front that kept backing up. The roof on this porch is a terrible design considering our lot is so heavily dense with trees. The gutters clog up faster then I can keep them clean.

This is the playhouse, I have recently removed half of it. (Only thing left currently is the elevated floor and the stairs.) It was in a terrible disarray, and there was no way I would have allowed Wil to play in it. The floor was rotting out, along with other vermin living in it. We decided to go ahead and remove it to make room for 2 zones.

So the plan is:
Create 2 zones in the backyard, 1 for beau to play in. (Preferably along the back 6′ privacy fence.)
The second zone up closer to the house, where grass is actually growing. In the heavily shaded areas, I would like to play shrubs and flowers which thrive in shady areas.
I would also like to lay down a path of crushed rock/gravel to provide a walk way.
In the future, and as another future project, I would like to build a greenhouse. But we’ll save that project for another day.

The second spring project I’m working on is upgraded my old desktop PC into a NAS system, that we can keep our family pictures and files on. More information on this when I get a few pictures.
